Could Cyber Monday replace shopping in real life for a day? The video by CBC talks about the benefits of shopping online throughout the year and for one day in particular, yes you guessed it, Cyber Monday! Cyber Monday occurs after Black Friday and Thanksgiving where people are able to find good deals on cheap items through online shopping. In the video, Amanda talks about how she benefits from shopping online, stores that are not available in Saskatchewan allow customers to buy their items through online shopping. Cyber Monday is a day for people to get a good deal on items online without having to travel and leave their homes. Don't worry, if you love going to stores and malls, online shopping does not compare with shopping in real life therefore items can still be purchased in real life.
I would say that I love both online AND actually going to the shops. I love online shopping because I am able to find better deals online at the luxury of my house whereas I love shopping in malls when I am with my friends just having a good time. I think shopping at malls or stores are better than online shopping because I can feel the quality of the object and also go back to that store if I have any problems with the object whereas if I buy the stuff online, I won't be able to return, exchange or make any changes. Purchases made online are final.
ReplyDeleteAs you said before, Companies also benefit a lot through online sales since it requires less work from their side. They can save money on renting a place, hiring sales associates, etc.
Really good points made Adiel - there is a lot less overhead and fewer expenses with the "online retail store" = greater profits. That is why many companies push their own websites and have increasingly offered direct sales to customers off the web.
ReplyDeleteDeepac makes a great point as well - shopping in person is an "experience" and that will likely never be fully replaced. That being said, there are many items that need not be touched/felt such as electronics, videos/games, books, etc. and these are most conducive to online purchasing imo.
P.S. Dpac - many stores DO offer free exchanges at their store level if you purchased online and were unsatisfied. Just the heads up - but always read the return policy first.

Online shopping is definitely a better way for those lazy people to shop for anything needed right from the comfort of our home. Have a sale like Cyber Monday is even better as it will attract more sales and make those "lazy shoppers" happy lol and the companies make a greater profit as suppose to just being available to just a retail store. Its a win-win situation for both customers and the company
ReplyDeleteI guess in a way I prefer both, depending on what I'm buying and I'm sure alot of us can agree with me here when I say that. Like for example if I were buying clothes or shoes, basically anything I would have to try on; I would rather physically go to the mall and buy that because that way I can be guaranteed that this item fits me well, the quality is good and I like the colour/size or whatever else of it. I know it might be cheaper online, but just the satisfaction of knowing what I bought is of good quality and fits me well is worth the price.
ReplyDeleteHowever, if I was buying something small like a Phone case or Headphones, Jewelry or anything along those lines, I wouldn't mind buying it online. I would be cheaper, I could do it from the comfort of my own home and it's not something I would have to worry about fitting or not or whether the quality's up to par. Plus, if anything I could always return it and get my money back, but that's something I would never do with clothing or shoes because in my opinion I feel like returning some things like that from online is just a hassle.
For me, it depends on the item I am going to purchase. I personally would never buy clothes online since I just know it won't fit or I won't like the color when I try it on. Like Tasha said, anything I have to try on I probably won't buy online. Whereas CD'S, video game or simlply ordering movie tickets I would probably purchase those types of items online, and of course only to trusted sites and stores. It you ask me which I prefer, I would say the actual mall because it is better to physically see any item before you purchase it, I feel it can be trusted more and it is less of an issue in terms of payment and returns.
ReplyDeleteI would prefer both online and real life. Online shopping has better deals and more variety. Some products online are not available in stores. I would also prefer going to the shops because I would be able to make sure that the products are alright.
