http://www.thestar.com/business/smallbusiness/people/article/1306596--how-to-6-key-strategies-for-networking
This is it folks...We are wrapping up our blogs and preparing for the exams that are tedious and evil.... I mean fun and exciting :D!
For the final blog I have decided to do mine on an article on how to succeed when it comes to networking. It is scientifically proven that 20% of people are naturally born with a shy nature, this has been proven in 2010 by American and Chinese research. In order to succeed in business, you must be assertive and not shy towards other people or you are likely to not succeed. In order to network one must be able to follow these six steps; Do your homework, make an impression, have strategies when it comes to socializing, be natural, put others first and be card smart.
Do your homework:
Always research the task you are assigned in order to have a better understanding for the task you are assigned. There are many sites that can help you, forums and search engines are great sources to help you do research.
Make an expression:
Stand out from the crowd, don't just blend in be the one that wears something flashy such as a bright color or wear something unexpected but remember to follow the dress code. Keep eye contact with the person you are talking to, always smile and most importantly smile.
Socializing Strategies:
Approach the people who are alone as opposed to groups, they are more likely to prefer one on one conversations as opposed to group discussions. Have key points you can discuss with people and bring a cup of coffee or some kind of food for you to share with others.
Be natural:
Talk to the people naturally, do not treat them as clients as people prefer to be more comfortable with someone they know. Build a relationship by talking about general topics like the whether or the news then ask if they would be interested in your business.
Put others ahead of yourself:
By helping others you are giving them a reason to be interested in what you do, they will be more likely to repay you for helping them out than just talking to them about your business. Karma- What comes around goes around.
Be card smart:
Don't just give out cards, exchange information with people the people you think have potential and can help your business. Remember to organize the cards you receive and have a place where you can put the cards in.
Do you have any other advice in order to succeed in business? Post and comment in the section below about your favorite parts from business class!

Death To Apple!....Or Maybe not...?
http://www.torontosun.com/2013/01/14/apple-cuts-orders-for-iphone-5-parts-on-weak-demand-nikkei
After 5 generations of iPhone's people have grown tired of buying a new Apple phone in order to keep up with the so called "trends". Due to the weak demand of iPhone5's Apple has cut orders for LCD screens and other parts for the iPhone5. The demand has affected Asian businesses such as Sharp Co Ltd that produces the LCD screens for Apple (See how evil apple is! When they fail they drag other companies at the other end of the world down with them). Apple's dominance is decreasing while companies such as Samsung Electronics and other unknown businesses such as Huawei Technologies Co Ltd and ZTE Corp is taking over. For those that did not know, Apple has been getting parts from none other than Samsung, the chips within iPhones come from factories of Samsung in Korea(which we all know is a great country). The article goes on and talks about how Samsung is overthrowing Apple, I do not wish to continue to say how much Apple is unimpressive so that concludes the summary of the article.
Business is seen here, technological advances overthrow old and run down technology that may have existed for quite some time. With the increase of newer and newer technologies it is evident that the supply and demand for old inventions such as Apple decrease. Who knows Apple may step up their game and create a better quality phone or move on to something better (For those who are unfamiliar with Apple's history, they created PC's back in the day... They still do but back then there were no competitors until Microsoft took over.) Microsoft took them down but they rose up and created iPod's that revolutionized the way we hear things and made Apple become one of the most powerful company in the world. They may do something like this again as we discussed, there are reccessions that occur after they reach their peak, they also tend to rise back up. Do you think apple can overcome its challenges and rise back up or should they try and make something new and give up phones?

Troll Assault! Presented By Teksavvy!
http://torrentfreak.com/canadian-isp-prepares-for-unprecedented-bittorrent-troll-assault-121211/
Downloading information and applications that you must pay for online is ILLEGAL. Recently in the U.S, Internet providers have enforced stopping these activities by looking at the history of their clients and suing them for alleged copyright infringements. If you are one of these people that download illegally, brace yourselves because Canada's Internet provider Teksavvy is doing the same. Many people download and watch movies, films and do other illegal activities online but most people think that it is fine as a result of continuing these actions for a long time. So you may be wondering who is behind all of these actions, it is none other than the government, they have been hearing thousands of complaints from the companies that are being impacted by these actions. The most impacted businesses are the music and film industries, many people download their songs and movies for free as opposed to buying them.
International Business relates to this because money is an important source for businesses to continue. With downloading for free huge companies such as Paramount and Disney have lost so much profit that could help them become better. It is a shame that most people do this thing all the time but come on, who hasn't downloaded or watched something online illegally even for once? In your opinion is keeping track of our history a good or bad thing?

Online vs Stores (Cyber Monday)
http://www.cbc.ca/player/News/Canada/Saskatchewan/ID/2309737729/
Could Cyber Monday replace shopping in real life for a day? The video by CBC talks about the benefits of shopping online throughout the year and for one day in particular, yes you guessed it, Cyber Monday! Cyber Monday occurs after Black Friday and Thanksgiving where people are able to find good deals on cheap items through online shopping. In the video, Amanda talks about how she benefits from shopping online, stores that are not available in Saskatchewan allow customers to buy their items through online shopping. Cyber Monday is a day for people to get a good deal on items online without having to travel and leave their homes. Don't worry, if you love going to stores and malls, online shopping does not compare with shopping in real life therefore items can still be purchased in real life.

Alberta Oil finally shipped to Eastern Canada...!?
EXTRA EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT!
http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/story/2012/11/17/ns-oil-alberta-atlantic.html
At last, Canada's East Coast may not have to depend on the Middle East for most of it's oils. A Liberal MP from Nova Scotia recently, visited the oil sands in Alberta. The Liberal MP stated that accessing oil from foreign markets have presented difficulties. After seeing the abundance of oil in Alberta has given hope to the Eastern provinces of Canada. Not everyone believes that bringing oil to the East is a good idea, Halifax West MP Geoff Regan says there are environmental concerns involved with the export of oil to produce usable oil through pipes which would be shipped to Eastern provinces in Canada. Although there are many environmental concerns in Canada, the company officials do not expect environmental push backs on this idea due to the fact that it would greatly increase the economy.
So you may be wondering how this article relates to the International Business, this is related because Canada would start to produce and ship the oil within Canada instead of sending it off to other countries. This will create more job opportunities and advancement in technology, in order to manufacture the oil and ship it to the Eastern parts of Canada. Canada's economy will grow and our dependence on other countries for oil will greatly decrease, especially with the Middle East where they depend on oil for trade and their government is corrupt. During the previous chapter we discussed about the abundance of these oil sands, would these oil sands last us until newer and cleaner energy are invented. In my opinion we should start using newer, cleaner and more efficient types of energy as opposed to depending on old forms of technology. In your opinion would you like to keep using old types of energy as opposed to newer and cleaner ones?
Cleaner energy!

Apple faces trouble in the world market

Though Apple may have made a lot of money on their iPhones, there are many problems they face. Apple's sales for the iPad has turned out to be surprisingly low, 14 million units have only been sold as opposed to 26.9 units sold for their iPhones. Research by the research firm Strategy Analytics states that 41% of the global shipments for tablets came from Google's Android operating systems (29% the previous year). Apple's iPad global exports throughout the world has dropped from 64% to 57%, so does this mean that Apple needs to step up it's game in order to increase its profits?
With all of the new competitions that Apple must face, the prices for previous models of their gadgets have been reduced whenever a new model comes out. With the reduction of the prices for these items, Apple has lost a lot of profit, their gross margin during the fourth quarter 40% down compared to previous years. In class we talked about the supply and demand of items, when the demand for the item is high but the quantity for that item is low the price increases but when the demand is low, the price is decreased. Apple shows this because the demand for the lower generations of their models are low therefore the price of these items decrease.
Don't worry Apple lovers, this competition won't harm you, in fact it is great because Apple must step up their game in order to attract money.... I mean your business. With that my opinion of Apple in the world of business is simply that they are currently one of the biggest technology based businesses and are one of the most popular.
